          Solar & wind energy systems

          DSM’s innovators are supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy by turbocharging the potential of both solar and wind energy systems and offering more economical vital end-of-use options. Our materials technology is boosting solar performance worldwide through everything from Anti-Reflective and Anti-Soiling coatings for solar glass, to next-generation backsheets for solar modules, whilst ropes, lines and slings made with Dyneema? are used in the construction and operation of offshore windfarms in previously inaccessible locations.

          Cleaner, safer, smarter

          The automotive industry is changing shape before our eyes. Amid today’s critical climate and health pressures, ‘zero emissions’ is no longer just a concept, ultimately it’s the only way forward for car manufacturers and their suppliers. And in the meantime our solutions are?reducing the emissions of? everyday vehicles across the globe.?Together with our partners in the automotive industry we are at the heart of this transformation. We support engineers designing high performance and low environmental impact vehicles.

          Minimizing cattle methane

          As the world’s demand for protein continues to grow, so too does the amount of methane emitted by the cows we raise. That’s why the DSM team came up with Project Clean Cow to tackle this problem. Specifically, we created a feed supplement (called 3-NOP) that reduces methane emissions by up to 30% when added to dairy cattle feed - with no compromise on animal welfare, feed consumption or performance. When you consider that cows accounts for 4% of the world’s total greenhouse gas emissions, that’s good news for us all.?

          Powering the digital revolution

          While our materials feature in most cars, you’ll also find them in 100% of the world’s mobile devices. Today, we’re working with many of the world’s leading electronics brands to help them not only boost the functionality of their products but to reduce their environmental footprint. Take ‘thinovation’ – the trend for creating smaller, lighter, greener and safer working parts in electronic devices with less harmful substances. Increasingly, our materials are used to create components like the tiny connectors that give mobile phones their incredible functionality. Our advanced thermoplastics are also used in frames and enclosures, connectors, cables, wearable straps, and automotive electronics devices.
